Raman confocal microscopy

Raman confocal microscopy.

We have a Raman confocal microscope based in the Kroto Research Institute. This microscope allows Raman spectroscopy to be performed with microscopic spatial resolution and this technology opens up a new dimension in chemical analysis.

The Huang group is at the forefront of utilising Raman micro-spectroscopy for the study of microbes at the single cell level, and this technology also helps to manipulate and sort non-culturable microbes. This work is extended to the study of cell-cell (nanoparticles) interactions and the gene expression of single cells.
